The QuickBooks Online Windows and Mac desktop apps are no longer supported as of April 20, What does this mean for you? In your QBO go to the Gear in upper right hand Corner. Then look for the column Settings. At the bottom of that column you will see “Get the.

Quickbooks online app for desktop. Meet the New QuickBooks Online Advanced Desktop App for Microsoft Windows

They state that is due to lack of use and that they will be able to focus on other improvements, but I believe the lack of use is due to lack of promotion.

The App allows a user to have multiple companies and multiple tabs open at once, while in the browser version of QBO, the user can only have one company and one view open at a time; this is very inefficient. Who in their right mind prefers to close one company and log into another in order to switch between companies rather than clicking from one tab to the other?

Who prefers closing an invoice they are working in to view details of the company or details of another invoice or any other scenario where you might need to view more than one thing at the same time.

I’m dreading having to go back to a single view program, it will be so daunting and inefficient. Not a good move QuickBooks QBO paired with the desktop App was the best of both worlds, ability to access on the go from any browser, but the efficiency of the desktop windows. I sure hope the developers have something fantastic planned to make it worth losing the efficiency of the multi window functionality. Go to Solution. Great news to everyone who has viewed my post, Intuit has launched a new solution.

Thank you Intuit QB for bringing back this functionality. I have seen many improvements over the past two years in QBO especially reporting , and am happy you are listening to your users needs. View solution in original post. I hear your sentiments, JustineCUE. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts here with us. This action is part of our prioritization process to focus on working to make innovations and enhancements to the browser version. The desktop version is still accessible if already installed, however, this will no longer be updated with the latest features.

That’s being said, it’s recommended to access your QuickBooks Online company using a supported browser. I also encourage you to visit our QuickBooks Blog website for more product enhancements and updates. As always, feel free to post here again if you have any other QuickBooks-related concerns. I’ll be right here to lend a helping hand. Take care always. Why are you saying this? Please stop, it’s offensive. Just be honest about it and stop offending our intelligence.

How about you come to our office and actually run a set of books day in and day out and see how you like it.

Your Prioritization process – what a laugh. We are furious over this, after switching to QBO from Desktop. The QBO workflow is terrible, with no multiple windows, having to juggle with other web window activity, repeated logins The ONLY think that makes it bearable is the app which separates it from the regular browser and deals with the other issues?

The product has not even been fully abandoned yet, and I already cannot open multiple windows in the app, and I need to log in again if my computer goes to sleep and loses connection.

You are pissing off your small business client base, Intuit. We are less than 6 months into what was a very rough conversion due to “known issues” and considering what our next platform will be besides QBO.

That’s how much you are letting your customers down. Hello Staltimber. Thank you for coming to this thread to offer your feedback. It’s truly valuable for us to understand how this change impacts you and your business. I can promise every decision made by Intuit takes into account our customers and their preferences, but I understand in this case it took away some important features for you.

I highly encourage leaving feedback and giving us suggestions on what we can do to improve your experience with QuickBooks Online within the browser. Here’s how to do that: How do I submit feedback? If you considered everything, you would of reached out to us, those who are using it and talked to us, but you didn’t. Multiple companies opened at one time, always on and bring in all the quick keys that are in the app.

Why do you need someone to tell you that you need it needs to do some fundamental things? Do you not have any accountants that you go to test these things?

Do you not use it yourself? Does an Intuit employee really sit there and use it and say “yes, this is fun You need me to tell you that having multiple tabs and windows like the desktop version and the desktop app is an improvement? Either you’re not very bright over there at Intuit or your “please feedback” suggestion is really a smokescreen for something else. It has to be one or the other My guess I agree. They have made QBO ridiculously hard to use if you’re trying to multi-task between different functions.

I’ll be looking for another accounting option. Well Divina, maybe if your bosses would just tell us that those enhancements are going to include the features the Desktop App has, we wouldn’t be so upset right now. Even then, what they should of done is just enhance the browser and then phased out the Desktop App.

Total agreed, it is very disappointing. Desktop App in multiple devices was a main reason for making this choice. The multiple tabs was very convenient. I totally agree with everyone else. If you could see the messes that I get from my clients, you would not put me back to the browser version.

It is absolutely necessary to have multiple windows open. From the comments that I have seen, I think it would be worth your time to look into maintaining this app. I want to add my voice to those that are very disappointed to have the app discontinued. One of the best features of QBO is being able to have multiple windows and even multiple companies open at once.

The browser option takes this feature away completely. It is disappointing that Intuit would take the app away without more input from the accountant community. Discontinuing support eventually discontinuing the app is a very poor decision by Quickbooks. We have moved numerous client to QBOnline and will have to consider other products if we cannot easily switch between companies and pages.

The app is SO much easier for me to use, especially since I can have more than one tab open at the same time which helps work efficiency.

I hate using the browser version and I’m shocked they would even end this. The browser version pales in comparison to the app. Might be time to figure out another accounting software because I’m not going to be able to deal with the browser version much longer. Many options in the market to replace your QBO but we have ye to find any app offering a desktop app and only rely on browser to run it.

Contact us in private to purchase a 3rd party conversion service. I got the notice today and am quite pissed off about this. In 4 years of having quickbooks I’ve only used it online once when I was on holidays and I’ve found it much more difficult to use online, and much slower.

Does anyone know how we can send a direct complaint to quickbooks? Or what other accounting software is out there that is comparable?

I am extremely disappointed the desktop version of Quickbooks will no longer be supported. I use the desktop version exclusively for all of my accounts. The online version forces me to log in every time, use the 6-digit code every time, and it logs me out while I’m in the middle of working.

It sounds like it might be time to find a new platform for my client’s accounting and payroll needs. The QBO desktop app can already no longer allow files to be attached. This makes it useless for us. By clicking “Continue”, you will leave the community and be taken to that site instead. Enter a search word. Turn off suggestions. Enter a user name or rank.
